PEOPLE
Everyone you meet, every day, is struggling to cope with life in this world. When people are tired, sick, afraid, or just overwhelmed with their failures and frustrations in life: they lie, they yell, they cheat, they blame; they are cold, angry, mean, jealous and deceitful. Try to imagine them at their best, as they would like you to see them: as the kind, generous, attractive, successful people they believe they would be, if only they had: a little more time, a little more rest, a little more money, a little more luck; if only life had been more fair to them. Forgive them for being human and weak, in a harsh world full of people suffering countless hurts both great and small. They forget, the truth everyone knows inside: there is more to life, so much more, beyond this temporary world. They don't know, most of what they do not have, most of what they can not do, is vastly overrated, and would neither satisfy them, nor even be worth the effort of their pursuit; because our desires often begin with the fear of missing out, and end with the realization of being duped, having anxiously chased after that which is devoid of any real value. Try to be happy today. Right now. Look around. Enjoy the simple things. The super-rich grow sick from overindulgence, weak, dull and sluggish from excessive leisure, bitter with disappointment from dead-end pleasures, blind to others, absorbed in themselves and their worries. You can grow in strength, confidence and contentment, better able to cope with the troubles you will face, by being grateful for the goodness and beauty in the world, the bright sun in the morning, the moon and stars at night, the sound of wind in a forest, the color of flowers in a field, the smell of fresh-cut grass, the taste of fresh-picked fruit, a cool drink of clean water when you are thirsty, a good night's sleep after a hard day's work. Do not rush through your day, wasting your energy. Slow down. Take time to plan. Get organized. Stop worrying. Do less, but do it better. Have less, but enjoy it more. Make the most of each day, being kind to others, patient, understanding and forgiving, in little ways that make a big difference, because life is sometimes hard, and there are so many people who need your help.
